Title: The Fifie, Old Pittenweem
Material: Acrylics
Size: 16in x 12in
The inspiration for this painting was an old postcard of Pittenweem I came across. It is also interesting to relook at a place you know and compare it with photos of past times, and see the changes, but also the familiar settings, the houses still standing after several generations.
The Fifies are traditional fishing boats that have long been a vital part of Fife’s maritime heritage. Known for their sturdy build and versatility, these boats have been used by local fishermen to navigate the coastal waters around Fife, Scotland. The Fifies played a crucial role in supporting the fishing industry, which was once a cornerstone of the region’s economy.
