These are my first attempts at painting fishing boats. I wanted to portray how colourful they look in the vastness of the sea. Also as an expressive artist, I especially like to use bright, playful colouring. I live in a lovely area, a small fishing village along the coast, where there are a series of fishing villages and coastal walks. I’ve only been here over a year, and I’ve become fascinated with the range of fishing boats in the harbours and out at sea. Its a tough life for the fishermen and I admire their stamina and pragmatism. Still, for me, the boats appear cheery, and colourful, and this is what I aimed to portray in both of these paintings. A combination of using brushes and palette knives, in acrylics.
