I love the Indian Elephant wall-hangings, so decided to try one out for myself. The elephant is appliquéd to the blue background. I used Indian embroidery pieces to decorate the border. Kantha stitches were used to spice up the blue background. The elephant material was cut from a dress, mirror-work was added, along with embroidery stitching, and bits of ribbon. My aim was to make the whole piece colourful. This wall-hanging is smaller than my usual works, 53cm x 55cm. I’m looking forward to trying out another elephant quilt along the same lines, experimenting with different backgrounds and materials.
