Girl in Blue Dress
&
Thai Print

The Girl in the Blue Dress is an old painting and was laid away, collecting dust for many years, I recently came across her again and decided to spruce her up a bit. She is an image I have painted several times, there is something about her that I like to try to capture. She has become to me the Girl in the Blue Dress. Her portrait I keep in a folder and by now she must be all grown up with perhaps family of her own. Someone I have never met but has been with me for years.

The Thai Print I found in a charity shop, this is the second Thai print I have used in an art quilt, they are certainly eye-catching and from time to time I try to explore the meanings depicted in the print, and find out more about the history and content of the image. However, I amĀ lazy when it comes to this type of study and prefer to just follow the art of whatever is pleasing to my eye and be content with the image and the meaning it has for me or the individual who views it.
Still enjoying the art quilts and becoming increasingly interested in fabrics… still love my trusty old sewing machine which recently broke down, and was in much need of oiling!
