Title: Auld Kirk, St Monans
Material: Acrylics
Size: 12in x 16in
I have a fascination with the Auld Kirk and it’s historical roots, and have painted it several times. As a colourist, I try to emphasise the brightness, and vibrancy of the colours I see, how buildings shine as much as the beautiful nature which surrounds it, although nature will always win over our temporary structures. I aim to blend theĀ rich colours that evoke a sense of nostalgia and reverence for its ancient origins. The church, perched dramatically by the sea, is depicted with vibrant blues and greens that mirror the surrounding landscape and the crashing waves of the Firth of Forth. The artwork emphasises the Kirk’s weathered stone, showcasing its historical significance.
