African Art Quilt

This is another older piece of artwork rescued and turned into an art quilt. The image is based totally on an artwork I admired, (original by Tony Hudson). This one was first done during an experiment with fabric crayons, but they really didn’t give me the strength of colour I wanted, so it was abandoned and laid away (for a rainy day)…or in this case, a particularly dry spell when my painting isn’t flowing! So I went over the painting with acrylics to strengthen the colours, then just enjoyed finding scrap materials to decorate the piece. I don’t feel it matters which countries the material patterns represent, as I can see different cultures represented here, I just like to use what I feel compliments the whole piece.
