It took me ages to complete this art quilt, it has lain there all winter just waiting for those final finishing touches. Finally over a fresh Spring weekend, I finally found the inspiration to complete the project.

It reminds me of Spring moving into Summer when again the life-force bursts forward with much noise and bright light full of colour and song.

A very welcome time of the year in a cold and often grey, cloudy Scotland where the winters are long and the weather is inclined to storm-filled skies. As I type, the sun is weakly shining and snow falls despite it being the end of April, lets hope that the month of May brings us warmth and sunshine…

This poem comes to mind when I have had a busy period which has taken me away from my art and crafts, and I long for peace and quiet to pursue my creativity again…

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty’s glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
